Climb Mount Damavand! Set your foot on the top of the highest Iranian mountain and the highest volcano in Asia!


Overview

Our classic Damavand trek is planned from South route, the easiest and the most popular one, which has clear foot trails and mountain shelters on Gosfand-Sara Camp (3050 m) and Bargah-Sevom Camp (4200 m).
During this Damavand trekking tour we will spend one extra day on acclimatization walk from Bargah-Sevom Camp to the elevation 4800-5000 m. It will help us get used to high altitude and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. We will successfully reach the summit of Damavand Mountain.

    Additional Information

    Damavand is actually non-active volcano, but still going trough the last stage before complete silence – still spews plume of sulfur gas.

    Recommendation

  • Choose summer months for your trekking. The best weather condition is from mid June till mid September.
  • For better acclimatization we recommend you to climb one other mountain before your Damavand ascent. We can organize for you trekking on Mount Tochal (3900 m) or Alam Kooh (4851 m) as your acclimatization tour.

    Tehran Airport

    Day One From IKA airport to Damavand Camp 1

    Early in the morning our guide will wait for us at the airport in Tehran (IKA airport). From the airport we will drive to the foot of Mount Damavand, where our Damavand trek will start. In Polour village we will obtain climbing permits and change car to off-road vehicle. We will continue driving to Gosfand Sara Camp, located at an altitude 3050 m. Dinner and overnight stay in mountain shelter or tents.

    Day Two Climbing to Bargah Sevom Camp

    Breakfast at the campsite. Then we pack our equipment, which mules will carry to Bargah Sevom Camp, located at an altitude 4200 m. After 4-5 hours we should reach the campsite. We will walk slowly to save our energy for a few more days. Free afternoon. At the evening we will have dinner in the mountain shelter. Overnight stay in tents or mountain shelter.

    Day Three Acclimatization on Mount Damavand

    After breakfast at a shelter we will take our small backpacks and climb up till 4800-5000 m. There is no technical difficulty during this Damavand climbing, just can be steeper and colder than previous days. After acclimatization walk we will back to Bargah Sevom camp. There we will have dinner. Then we can rest and regenerate before Damavand summit push on the following day.

    Day Four Climbing to Damavand summit

    Early morning, long before dawn, we will wake up, eat breakfast and we will start ascent to the Damavand top. Ascent can take 5-7 hours (depends on the weather condition and pace of the group). Still no technical difficulties, only sulphur gas escaping from mountain can make our Damavand trekking less pleasant. When we reach the top of Damavand, we will have a break for taking photos. Afterwards we will start descent to the campsite at 4200 m. Dinner and overnight stay at the Bargah Sevom Camp.

    Day Five Descent from Bargah Sevom camp and back to Tehran

    We walk down to Polour village. On the way we can stop in Larijan, where famous thermal springs are. We can take a bath in hot mineral water to help our bodies forget about tiredness of the Damavand trek. From Polour car will take us to Tehran, to the hotel.

    Day Six Transfer to the airport.

    Breakfast at the hotel and thus will finish our Damavand trek. From the hotel we will take you to the IKA airport for your returning flight.
